Picture residing in Bridgton, where each front porch symbolizes an extra tax and the thought of repairing your home is drowned by the reality of handing over your income to the town. Now, imagine working hard to own your home or vehicle, only to constantly worry about property taxes. It's a burden that no one should bear, and I've seen close individuals forced out of their houses due to these taxes. The government finds ways to meddle in personal spaces such as our houses, dictating the number of bathrooms allowed and requiring permission to make any home improvements.

Property taxes, as they presently stand, not only infringe on the basic right of possession but also exacerbate homelessness and affect the choice of where one can live. It's a divisive issue that needs urgent attention. By abolishing property taxes on all homes, vehicles, and other properties, we can eliminate these issues and replace it with a fairer system - a Municipal tax.

A Municipal tax, deducted directly from everyone's paychecks, would not only incentivize the government to allow more people to work but also limit unnecessary regulations and interference. It could replace existing property taxes, potentially lowering rents and alleviating homelessness issues that are frequently linked to property tax burdens (National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty, 2019).

It's time we reevaluate the existing tax systems and fight for the right to enjoy the fruits of our labor without hinderance.
