End Prince William Board of County Supervisors Agreement with ICE Now!
The Issue
Sign this petition to urge County Supervisors to unite to end this agreement however possible, to honor our country’s values as a nation built by immigrants, and to continue protecting the rights and dignity of every resident in Prince William County (PWC).
PWC is one of the most diverse areas in the nation, and communities like Woodbridge are especially attractive to many families and individuals due to its inclusiveness. Immigrants haven't just enriched our cultural landscape; they have strengthened our local economy and community fabric.
However, recently, the PWC Board of County Supervisors approved a use of facilities agreement extension with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), effective fiscal year 2026, that undermines this community fabric. This contract grants ICE and CBP access to the county’s Mike Pennington Scenario-Based Training Center to prepare for their operations. We, the undersigned, view this as a direct threat to the peace and sense of welcoming that make our community special. The approval for ICE to use facilities funded by our tax dollars to train for operations that separate, brutalize, detain, and deport community members without due process is heartbreaking, unacceptable, and un-American.
The facilities agreement poses various ethical concerns. Complicity in policy and actions that contribute to fear and division in our community contradicts PWC’s legacy of inclusivity and the Police Department’s mission of public service. Indeed, the use of our county infrastructure to support ICE and CBP's operations undercuts the fundamental values we stand for—unity, acceptance, and safety for all residents, regardless of background.
We believe in fostering a safe environment where diversity is celebrated and nurtured. Allowing organizations like ICE and CBP to use PWC facilities does the opposite—it jeopardizes the sense of security and belonging that individuals and families feel in their schools, places of worship, workplaces, public spaces, and homes. Additionally, our Police Department cooperating in any way with a federal agency that has gone rogue raises the risk of overreach, escalation, and violence in local ICE operations, rather than fostering community trust, de-escalation, and peace. Across the country, like in LA this June, ICE is utilizing overwhelming, inhumane force and acting without the due process enshrined in our Constitution and afforded to all residents, citizens and non-citizens alike.
Therefore, we call on Prince William County Board of County Supervisors to *rescind the Police Department’s use of facilities agreement with ICE and CBP immediately.* By doing so, we safeguard our community’s integrity and assure all residents—whether citizens, immigrants, or refugees—that PWC stands with them.
