End phone ban in all schools in Arkansas

The Issue
As a high school sophomore in Arkansas, I believe the new ‘Bell to Bell, No Cell Act’—which bans personal electronic devices, including cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, and headphones from the first bell to the last—is overly strict and harms student autonomy, safety, and communication. While I understand the goal of reducing distractions, confiscating our connection to parents and support systems during the day can cause anxiety and limit access to help in emergencies. The law also places an unfair burden on students to mute a key part of our modern lives, especially in a rapidly changing world. Instead of a total ban, I propose a compromise that balances focus with freedom—such as limited access during breaks or supervised use—so we can stay engaged academically without sacrificing safety or connection.
