The Issue

We, the undersigned, respectfully urge you to take immediate legislative action to end the unfair exemption of truck drivers from federal overtime pay protections under the Motor Carrier Exemption of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Truck drivers are the backbone of the American economy. We move the goods that stock your shelves, fuel your homes, and power your industries. Our work is physically demanding, mentally exhausting, and essential to maintaining the supply chain that every American depends on.

Yet despite the long hours, constant time away from our families, and the hazardous conditions we face daily, truck drivers are denied the most basic labor right granted to nearly every other blue-collar profession in the United States: overtime pay.

We demand a change.

It is time to recognize the value of our labor and the sacrifices we make. All hourly-paid truck drivers—and all miles driven beyond 40 hours in a workweek—should be compensated at 1.5 times the standard rate, just like other skilled laborers across the country.

Maintaining the exemption not only devalues our contributions, it incentivizes overwork and burnout, endangering both drivers and the public. We are not asking for special treatment—we are asking for equal treatment.

This petition calls for:

The full repeal of the FLSA Motor Carrier Exemption for truck drivers.
A mandate that all hourly compensation and mileage pay beyond 40 hours be subject to overtime rates.
Fair and consistent labor protections in line with other blue-collar professions such as construction workers, factory workers, and mechanics.

We stand united in demanding justice, dignity, and fair compensation for the work we do to keep America moving.

Sign this petition to support the men and women behind the wheel.

It’s time for Congress to deliver FAIR PAY for America’s truck drivers.
