End Misogynistic Restrictions on Female Students at RVCE – Safety, Not suppression
The Issue
Following the recent incident involving a senior trustee of RVCE and a brave female student who came forward, the college administration has responded with deeply regressive and misogynistic policies that unfairly punish female students instead of addressing the real issue: institutional negligence and lack of accountability.
These are the newly imposed rules:
Girls hostel curfew reduced to 6 PM, while boys continue with a 10:00 PM curfew.
Female students banned from club activities on weekends.
Clubs can open only with prior approval for boys, while girls are excluded.
These actions:
Reinforce victim-blaming culture.
Penalize all female students instead of focusing on safety and justice.
Do nothing to fix real safety concerns like unsupervised and intoxicated workers near girls’ hostels.
We demand:
Immediate reversal of these regressive restrictions.
Transparent investigation and disclosure of the sexual assault case outcome.
Proper safety measures: increased lighting, background-verified staff, and security around hostels.
Gender sensitivity training for staff and students.
Creation of a student grievance redressal cell with female representation.
We will not stay silent. We will not accept punishment for someone else’s crime. Sign and share to support gender equality and safety on our campus.
