These animals who left Townsville for Indonesia onboard the Brahman Express on 10/04/26, were loaded onto the ship in the late afternoon, with the loading completed overnight. This is not what has been happening in Fremantle where this year thousands of cattle have been loaded for export on very hot days when the city was experiencing temperatures of 38°C plus and high humidity. Our friends @StopLiveExports in WA are campaigning to stop this cruelty with a petition to Federal parliament calling for better protection from heat stress for animals going into the live export trade. They have seen cattle loaded at Fremantle over the past few months, when the temperature was in high 30s, and even low 40s. That happened legally. Because there is no law setting a temperature ceiling for live export loading. Construction workers at the same port have a negotiated right to stop at 35°C. Animals loading beside them have nothing.
