It is with a heavy heart that I see the daily parade of innocent and adoptable pets cruelly euthanized in kill shelters across California and Texas. Many of these are suffering, unseen and forgotten in the back rooms of these facilities. This horrific practice urgently needs to be stopped.

California and Texas are the hardest hit. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized each year nationwide, with these two states amongst some of the worst offenders. These unfortunate animals do not deserve to be subjected to such harsh treatment and senseless death. It's time to shift from kill shelters to no-kill policy.

By making California and Texas no-kill states, we will give these animals the chance to live a full, happy life - a right that all creatures deserve. Furthermore, this will pave the way for other states to follow suit, eventually ending the practice of euthanasia in shelters nationwide.

Help to give a voice to these innocent lives. They are not disposable. They do not deserve to die. It's time to hold our states accountable and make the move towards a kinder, more humane system of animal care.
