End Illegal Deployment of UPDF Troops in South Sudan

The Issue

My name is a voice among many others in South Sudan who have had their daily lives upended due to the ongoing illegal deployment of UPDF troops in our region. This pervasive military presence has created a high-tension atmosphere, making it difficult for individuals, like myself, to live our lives in peace and security.

According to a report by The International Committee in Partnership with Civil Society Organizations in South Sudan, there is an illegal presence of foreign troops, specifically the UPDF, in South Sudan's territory. These troops have violated 2018 Peace Agreements and  direct violation of the country's sovereignty.

This situation not only infringes on our nation's independence, but it also hampers the efforts made toward peacebuilding and post-conflict recovery. We, the people of South Sudan, have had enough of the external military intrusion disrupting our civic activities and causing further instability in our already troubled region.

We urge the international community, relevant African Union bodies, IGAD, and our government, to act swiftly, decisively, and diplomatically to resolve this issue by ensuring the immediate withdrawal of these illegally stationed troops. South Sudan deserves to move forward in peace, without the spectre of undue foreign military presence.

Please join me in signing this petition, to advocate for the termination of the illegal deployment of UPDF troops in South Sudan. We, together, can bring a change. Please sign and share the petition.
