My name is Jovonte  and I am a resident of Gilroy. For me, this town represents safety, community, and the promise of a peaceful life. However, this promise is under threat. The presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in our city has turned our home into a place of fear for many families. It is disheartening to see our neighborhoods, once filled with laughter and joy, now gripped by anxiety and uncertainty. It is time for us to stand up and make our voices heard.

ICE operations have been associated with numerous negative impacts on communities, often leading to family separations and community disruptions. According to a report from the American Immigration Council, increased ICE activities can lead to a decrease in community trust and a rise in racial profiling. In Gilroy, where we cherish diversity and inclusivity, ICE's presence undermines these values by instilling fear among our neighbors who contribute so much to our society.

I call upon my fellow residents and supporters of peace and justice to join me in demanding an end to ICE operations in Gilroy. Let's make sure our voices are heard.
