I am an Australian citizen who recently experienced unnecessary questioning and treatment akin to a criminal by the Australian Border Force upon my return from overseas. This is not an isolated incident but a reflection of the broader issue that many Australians face when they arrive home. It's disheartening to be treated as suspicious in your own country, especially after long international flights.

According to a report by The Guardian in 2019, numerous complaints have been lodged against the Australian Border Force for their aggressive questioning and intrusive searches (The Guardian, 2019). This practice not only infringes on our rights as citizens but also creates an unwelcoming environment for those returning home or visiting Australia.

We call on the Department of Home Affairs to review and reform the current practices of the Australian Border Force. We demand respect for our rights as citizens, fair treatment, and appropriate conduct from all officers. Let's ensure that every individual entering Australia is treated with dignity and respect they deserve.
