My wife is desperately trying to take her driving test soon, but the only available dates within 20 miles are months in the future. Every time she attempts to get a date with instructors, they give her an inflated price or direct her to dealers of test dates at wildly higher prices. The official test prices are £62 on a weekday or £75 on a weekend. This awful system has allowed morally corrupt people to privately offer her slots for £100 on a weekday or £125 on a weekend for the test alone.

Driving schools being given this power was initially a necessary measure during COVID-19, but it is now being used to extort prospective drivers through the resale of test slots, especially through undocumented channels like WhatsApp groups. It is unfair and unjust that individuals who need these tests are being forced into paying exorbitant fees to Non-government individuals due to this open door for exploitative practice.

We demand an end to driving test slots being sold to driving schools and call for fair access for all individuals seeking their driving tests, in a way that cannot be resold. Please sign this petition if you agree that this practice needs immediate reform!
