End Discrimination and Harassment Against LGBTQ female Employees in French Quarters

The Issue

I once felt thrilled to join a renowned restaurant in the vibrant French Quarters of New Orleans. As an open member of the LGBTQ community, I was ready to bring my skills and diversity to the table. But I was met with discrimination and sexual harassment instead. The management and coworkers made unwanted comments and restricted me from expressing my pride during Pride Month, June 2024. Ironically, non-LGBTQ coworkers were allowed to dress up in support, isolating me further in the workspace.

This is not just my story - it is a reflection of a bigger issue haunting the service industry. A recent report states that over half of LGBTQ individuals face discrimination in the workplace nationwide (source: Human Rights Campaign). This discrimination is not merely hurtful; it degrades our ability to perform, our motivation, and shakes our dignity.

Furthermore, sexual harassment is inexcusable and unacceptable. As stated by the American Psychological Association, sexual harassment can cause severe psychological trauma and needs to be addressed promptly. My experience along with that of countless others merits immediate attention and a push towards change.

We urge the service industry, particularly in New Orleans' French Quarters, to take action against these occurrences. Implement stronger anti-discrimination policies, cultivate an environment of acceptance and respect, and hold perpetrators accountable. This will turn restaurants into safe spaces promoting diversity, inclusivity, and excellence.

Dedicated to the cause, we kindly ask for your signature and support. Together we can ensure every employee in the service industry feels safe, respected, and valued for who they are. Please sign this petition to stand against discrimination and harassment.

Creole Cusine please do better in the future. EEOC should be upheld by the integrity of the company & ALL of their employees!
