My name is Nathan, a resident of Louisiana, USA, and I am a student with Autism that I was diagnosed with in 2011. Every day, I face discrimination and bullying within my school community. Despite numerous reports to the school authorities, no substantial action has been taken to address this issue.

This is not just my story; it's the story of countless students who are being bullied because they are different than others. Students with disabilities are two to three times more likely to be bullied than their nondisabled peers.

Our schools should be safe havens for all students regardless of their differences. Yet, in our community schools here near me, that is far from reality. The lack of action from our educational institutions sends a message that discrimination and bullying are acceptable behaviors.

We need immediate change! There needs to be implement comprehensive anti-discrimination policies within our schools. These policies should include regular staff training on recognizing and addressing bullying effectively as well as providing support for victims.
