End Discrimination Against Individuals with Schizophrenia in Boxing Victoria

End Discrimination Against Individuals with Schizophrenia in Boxing Victoria
The issue
I am a passionate boxer who has been unfairly discriminated against by Boxing Victoria due to my schizophrenia. This is not only a personal issue, but it also represents a larger problem of discrimination against individuals with mental health conditions within the sports community.
According to the World Health Organization, one in four people will be affected by mental or neurological disorders at some point in their lives. Despite this prevalence, stigma and discrimination are still widespread issues faced by those living with these conditions (World Health Organization). In my case, I was denied the opportunity to participate in boxing - an activity that not only brings me joy but also helps manage my condition.
Boxing Victoria's decision goes against Australia's Disability Discrimination Act 1992 which prohibits discrimination on the grounds of disability (Australian Human Rights Commission). It is crucial that we challenge this unjust treatment and advocate for equal opportunities for all individuals regardless of their mental health status.
By signing this petition, you are standing up against discrimination and advocating for fair treatment of all athletes irrespective of their mental health condition. Let us unite our voices to ensure that everyone has equal access to sports participation. Sign this petition today!
