The Issue

I am a therian, and so are many of my friends. We are part of a community that identifies spiritually or psychologically with non-human beings, often animals. However, we face discrimination daily in our school here in Leesburg, VA. This is not just our personal struggle; it's an issue that affects countless students across the country who identify as furries or therians.

Furries and therians are frequently misunderstood and stigmatized due to misconceptions about their identities. According to a study published by the International Anthropomorphic Research Project (IARP), around 20% of furries reported significant bullying due to their identity during adolescence.

We believe that everyone deserves respect for their personal identities. It's time for schools to educate students about different subcultures like ours, promoting understanding rather than hate.

We call upon the Leesburg School District to implement policies protecting furries and therians from discrimination and harassment. We also urge them to include education about various subcultures within their curriculum, fostering an environment of acceptance rather than prejudice.

Please sign this petition if you stand against discrimination and support inclusivity for all students regardless of how they identify themselves personally.
