End daylight savings time

End daylight savings time
The Issue
For decades, daylight savings time (DST) has been implemented as a way to make better use of daylight during the longer days of summer. However, it disrupts our natural biological clocks, leading to various health issues and contributing to economic inefficiency. Numerous studies have shown the adverse effects this practice has on people's health, safety, and productivity, raising serious concerns about its continued application.
Health experts have identified that disruptions to sleep patterns caused by DST can increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and contribute to seasonal mood disorders. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine and other organizations have pointed to the negative impact that the annual shift has on the populace's well-being. Moreover, the National Institutes of Health have highlighted how these abrupt time changes are linked to increased workplace accidents and compromised employee performance.
Economically, the gains promised by DST have not been consistently realized. It was assumed that shifting the clock forward would reduce energy usage, but studies by the U.S. Department of Energy and other institutions indicate that the savings are negligible or nonexistent in modern society. In fact, the shift can cause confusion in scheduling and disrupt business operations, especially those that cross international time zones.
Numerous states have expressed the desire to abolish DST, and several countries worldwide have already taken steps to discontinue the practice. It's time we join this movement to prioritize health and efficiency over outdated traditions. By eliminating daylight savings time, we will align our clocks permanently with our bodies’ natural rhythms and create a healthier environment for all.
I urge lawmakers to reconsider the benefits and the necessity of daylight savings time and support legislation to end this practice. Please join us in advocating for a healthier and more productive society by signing this petition. Together, we can make this important change a reality.
