Critical Race Theory and Social Emotional Learning don’t belong in schools!
The Issue
- Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) are 2 agendas being pushed by the liberal progressive movement in America and being taught to children K-12 throughout our nation. CRT is based on Marxism and focuses on teaching children to be social justice warriors and followers of the crowd versus learning academics and critical thinking skills. SEL teaches children how to develop healthy emotions and attitudes, manage their emotions, feel and show empathy, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible caring decisions. To be clear, as parents we want our children to stand on the side of justice, show empathy and caring for others, establish good relationships and make responsible caring decisions. MY PROBLEM IS we as parents should be the ones to teach these things to our children...not a stranger who works for the government and potentially has a very different worldview. As parents we are not qualified to teach our children how to read, how to do long division or compound fractions. These are the skills that SHOULD be taught in the schools...not character development. The public school system needs to stay in their lane and let us do our jobs as parents.
