End Bucks County’s ICE Partnership Now

End Bucks County’s ICE Partnership Now
The Issue
In November, Bucks County voters sent a clear message: we do not want our local law enforcement working with ICE.
Sheriff Fred Harran, who signed a controversial 287(g) agreement with ICE earlier this year, was soundly defeated by 11 points. His opponent, Danny Ceisler, ran on a promise to terminate the program, which allows local deputies to act as federal immigration agents, questioning people about immigration status and executing ICE warrants.
That promise helped win the election. But immigrant families across Bucks County are still living in fear right now. Many are avoiding public places, skipping work, and hesitating to call the police, even in emergencies, because trust has been broken.
We are calling on Sheriff-elect Danny Ceisler and the Bucks County Board of Commissioners to act immediately and formally withdraw Bucks County from the 287(g) agreement before the new term begins in January.
Ceisler has already stated his intent to end the contract. But words are not enough. The people impacted by this agreement cannot wait two more months. The longer the 287(g) partnership remains in place, the more families will continue living in fear.
This contract was signed without community consent, without oversight from the commissioners, and in direct opposition to the values of Bucks County residents. It should be ended with urgency and transparency.
We know the sheriff’s office cannot stop ICE from entering the county. But it can stop being ICE’s partner.
Sign this petition if you believe Bucks County should formally and publicly withdraw from the 287(g) agreement now.
