Animals all around the world face abuse and cruelty. The most common victims of this abuse are dogs, cats, horses, and livestock. Unfortunately, this abuse is quite common in both rural and urban areas with a lot of cases reported but most never prosecuted. Organized abuse like dogfights and cockfights, intentional abuse and torture, neglect, and sexual abuse are all categories of cruelty that animals can face. We need to stand up and help properly defend these animals because they are just as deserving of a peaceful and safe life as we are. 

Abuse has a very significant effect on animals resulting in physical, emotional, and psychological harm to them. During severe abuse, animals can suffer from malnutrition, dehydration, injuries, infections, and diseases and develop problems with their behavior like aggression, fear, and anxiety. Some animals even die because of the abuse they go through. Emotionally, animals who are abused can develop mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, and antisocial personality disorder. 

Also, some animals get tested on for things like makeup to make sure it is safe for people. They also get tested on for toxic substances. The testing methods that are used on animals are inhumane and cause these animals great pain, distress, and death. Canada needs to fully ban this testing so our animals don't have to suffer. Canada should also ban the live export of horses for slaughter and cruel fur farms. 

Overall, Canada needs to enforce stronger and stricter laws to defend animals so they don't get treated as punching bags for people and don't have to die cruel deaths.
