End Aerial Glyphosate Spraying on All Lands in Canada

The Issue

The Honourable Prime Minister of Canada, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Minister of Natural Resources, and All Members of Parliament

We, the undersigned, call for an immediate halt to the practice of aerial glyphosate herbicide spraying on all public, private, and traditional Indigenous lands across Canada.

In 2025, thousands of hectares of Canadian forests are scheduled for treatment—including lands within and near traditional First Nations territories. This practice, designed to suppress the regrowth of broadleaf species, carries serious environmental, health, and cultural consequences.

This practice:

Threatens ecological health by reducing biodiversity, disrupting forest regeneration, and harming non-target plant species.

Poses potential risks to human and wildlife health, especially in communities that depend on clean water, hunting, fishing, and traditional food gathering.
Lacks adequate transparency and consultation, particularly with Indigenous communities whose rights, lands, and livelihoods are directly impacted.

We call on the Government of Canada to:

Implement an immediate moratorium on all aerial glyphosate spraying in Canada.

Require full, transparent public consultation before any herbicide use is approved.
Invest in alternative vegetation management methods that preserve biodiversity and ecological balance.

Why This Matters:

Aerial spraying of glyphosate affects every Canadian — from the forests we rely on for clean air and water, to the rights of Indigenous Peoples, to the safety of our food and wildlife. We must protect our ecosystems for current and future generations by choosing safe, sustainable forest management methods.
