The Issue

I lost my job because of my color, my sexuality, and the retaliation from a customer review. It has been a deeply distressing experience that I don't want anyone else to go through. It's time we address the racial, mental, and verbal abuse that many individuals face in our community, especially in the workplace.

In Cypress, Houston, TX, discrimination and abusive language are not as uncommon as we would like to believe. According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), thousands of discrimination cases are reported every year in Texas alone, with many more going unreported due to fear of retaliation or disbelief in the system.

We must demand change so that communication in the workplace and beyond is grounded in respect for all parties involved. Management teams should be trained to handle complaints with sensitivity and fairness, free from prejudice or bias. Employees should feel safe to voice their concerns without the threat of being fired or retaliated against.

We need policies that prevent employers from retaliating against employees who report abuse or discriminatory practices. There should be clear procedures for how complaints are addressed, and these processes should be made accessible to all employees. Moreover, regular diversity training should be mandated to promote understanding and inclusivity within the workplace.

By signing this petition, you can help create a safer, more respectful environment for everyone in Cypress, Houston. Stand with me to demand laws and practices that protect individuals from discrimination and ensure respectful communication. Together we can remove members of management that abuse, their power.  managers that have done retaliation should be held accountable. We together can make our establishments and  community a more inclusive and caring place.
