The Issue

I am writing this petition as an individual who takes pride in their home and environment. Every day, from the comfort of my house, I look out through my big bay window. I expect to see the tranquil beauty of a city that I love, but instead I will see a towering lumberjack statue, a sight that disruptively distracts from the natural charm of my surroundings. Although a statue may seem small in the grand scheme of things, the placement of this lumberjack statue within the limited property of our local museum is less than ideal.

Moreover, multiple studies have demonstrated a correlation between environment aesthetics and psychological well-being (Environmental Psychology, 2008), emphasizing the impact that our surroundings can have on our daily lives. In particular, residents are more likely to experience stress and discomfort when the aesthetics of their familiar environment drastically change or do not conform to their personal tastes.

We understand that the lumberjack statue is part of our community's identity, and we respect this significance along with the people it resonates with. However, there are more suitable places for this lumberjack statue, where it can be viewed and appreciated by those who choose to see it, without disrupting the everyday views of residents like me. We request those in authority to relocate this statue to a more fitting location, where it continues to contribute to the cultural enrichment of our community, but without impinging on the scenic views of residents' homes.

Please show your support by signing this petition and help improve the visual environment we all share.
