Encourage Pasadena Soccer Club to Complete an Audit
The Issue
**Update: If you want to do more please email the president of the board at president@pasadenasoccerclub.com and ask when the next board meeting is! I’ve also included the by law document I presented at the last board meeting under the updates for more information of what is being questioned!**
I've been a dedicated supporter of the Pasadena Soccer Club for years. My family and I have always cheered from the sidelines, invested our time, and contributed financially to ensure that our local soccer club thrives. However, recently I've witnessed several instances that made me question funds that have left me deeply concerned about the financial integrity and transparency within the club's management. The by laws state that an audit is supposed to be completed each year and shared with the parents. When this was brought up to the board they refused to conduct an audit and are now working on removing an audit from the by laws all together. There has not been in audit in at least 9 years! After everything that has happened in Pasadena sports recently (look into Buccaneers football program), our community needs to make sure that the money we put into these leagues are used for the children.
The club plays a crucial role in bringing our community together. It provides a positive impact on our youth and fosters a spirit of competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship. But for these values to be truly upheld, the club needs to operate with transparency and accountability.
One critical way to achieve this is by conducting a comprehensive and independent audit of the club's finances. An audit would shine a light on the financial operations of the club, identify any discrepancies or instances of mismanagement, and provide insights into areas for improvement. This measure would also help rebuild the trust of the community in the club's leadership.
In 2022, a similar initiative was successful in Los Angeles, where a community petition led to a financial audit of a sports club, thus setting a precedent for accountability in our sports institutions. This resulted in improved financial practices and increased community support. By invoking this change in Pasadena, we can follow a path of responsibility and transparency.
I call on the Pasadena Soccer Club's Board of Directors to take action by agreeing to a comprehensive audit conducted by an independent body. This audit will act as a tool for the club to better understand its financial health, improve its financial practices, and strengthen its relationship with the community.
Please join me in urging the Pasadena Soccer Club to complete this essential audit. Let's ensure that integrity and transparency are the cornerstones of our community's beloved club. Sign the petition today to make a difference.
