As an Ontarian, this issue is personal to me. For far too long, Ontarians who move to Italy, and Italians who move to Ontario, face a significant barrier - they are not allowed to easily exchange their driver's licenses. This lack of reciprocity agreement between Ontario and Italy stands in stark contrast to numerous other provinces, such as British Columbia, Alberta, and Quebec, which have all successfully established these agreements with Italy. We believe it is high time Ontario joins these provinces in embracing the principle of reciprocity for the ease of transition of its denizens going to Italy and Italians making Ontario their new home. By signing this petition, we urge our provincial government to take a step forward in fostering a better relationship with Italy, alleviating the unnecessary hardship experienced by drivers moving between Ontario and Italy, and demonstrating Ontario's commitment to important principles of international cooperation.
