The Issue

My neighbor recently got two adorable puppies, but sadly, their living conditions are far from ideal. They have placed the puppies in separate small kennels, far away from their house, tucked away in a corner of the yard next to the woods. They are not receiving any training or socialization, and every night they are left outside in pitch darkness with temperatures dropping to the mid-40s. This isolation is heart-wrenching as they are not even given the comfort of each other's warmth by not being allowed to cuddle together.

It's alarming to see these young puppies, who don't even know how to bark at strangers, struggling in such a callous environment. Proper pet ownership requires a commitment to providing loving care and a nurturing environment, and unfortunately, this situation is falling short. The lack of socialization and training at such a critical age could lead to long-term behavioral issues for these puppies.

Animals at such a tender age should be in a warm, loving environment where they can thrive and develop appropriately. This is not just about humane treatment, it's about ensuring they grow into healthy, well-adjusted dogs.

We urge my neighbor to find a new home for these puppies—homes where they will receive the care and attention they truly deserve. There are many families out there who can provide the love and warmth that these puppies need.

Please help by signing this petition to persuade my neighbor to rehome the puppies to those who will treat them with the kindness they deserve, fostering their growth in a supportive environment. Together, we can advocate for a positive change in the lives of these puppies. Let's stand for compassion, responsibility, and proper care for all animals. Sign now to make a difference in their lives.

update: 7/2026 the pups are in another home and are still together as they are bonded.   It would be great to find a permanent home but nobody wants two pups who will be very large dogs.  But they are safe ;)
As for suggestions that this is animal abuse and to reach out to authorities… we all know it is BUT the reality of life is that millions of people get dogs every year, not knowing how to care for them properly.  And any laws to protect the animals are only good IF law enforcement CHOOSES to enforce those laws, which is always at the whim of the officers called.  AND shelters are usually full, and over 1,000 animals are killed daily in shelters because nobody wants to adopt them (fact) and a life of struggle and neglect is a chance to find a better life some time in the future instead of being killed in a shelter a week after the dog arrives…
