The Issue

As an immigrant father, I have experienced the deep-seated grief of having my parental rights undermined by government systems like the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and Child Protective Services (CPS). My children, who I have never harmed or neglected, loved and respected me as their father. Yet, these institutions, which ought to support family integrity, have unjustly worked against me, keeping my children from me based on flawed assumptions and narrow perspectives.

This is not just my battle; it is a widespread struggle that dishonors fathers and mothers, going against the very tenets upon which many governments, including our own, were founded. The Ten Commandments teach us to "honor your father and your mother," yet these agencies systematically dishonor parents, stripping them of their fundamental rights. The government, which should uphold these moral and ethical codes, instead participates in acts that humiliate and undermine parental roles.

Statistics show that a significant number of cases handled by DCF and CPS involve parents who have not committed any wrongdoing, yet they face aggressive and often unjust scrutiny. According to a report by the Child Welfare Information Gateway, a considerable percentage of family separations fail to prove neglect or abuse upon thorough review. This not only affects the immediate family but contributes to broader societal issues by destabilizing the family unit.

The damage done by these arbitrary separations cannot be overstated. Children suffer emotionally and psychologically when they are removed from loving and nurturing environments. This dishonor towards fathers and mothers translates into long-term trauma for children who are denied access to their parents without valid cause.

We call upon Congress to step in and reform these agencies to genuinely support families rather than destroy them. Policies must be enacted to ensure that the fundamental rights of parents are respected, and that the focus remains on the genuine welfare and best interests of the children. This includes thorough review processes, better guidelines for intervention, and accountability for the agencies involved.

It's time to repent, to turn back towards valuing and respecting the roles of fathers and mothers. Join me in demanding action to reform these flawed systems. Sign this petition to protect the rights of parents and to bring about necessary change before more families are unjustly torn apart.
