According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, one acre of forest absorbs six tons of carbon dioxide and puts out four tons of oxygen - enough to meet the annual needs of 18 people (USDA). Moreover, trees act as natural water filters, reducing pollution by absorbing harmful nutrients before they can reach streams and rivers.

Yet despite these undeniable benefits, deforestation continues at an alarming rate. The World Bank reports that we lose over 18 million acres of forest annually (World Bank). This is not sustainable.
