As a member of the youth community in Rancho Cordova, I, along with many of my peers, affectionately refer to our city as 'Dova'. This nickname, steeped in camaraderie and local pride, has resonated with us for quite some time, serving as a testament to our strong sense of community, mutual respect, and shared identity within Rancho Cordova.

Despite its widespread use among the younger generation, 'Dova' is yet to receive recognition from the City of Rancho Cordova. We believe it is time for our local government to acknowledge this emblem of unity, and officially designate 'Dova' as a treasured nickname for our beloved city.

Incorporating this nickname officially would not only validate the voice of the city's youth but also showcase the unique character and spirit of Rancho Cordova. Cities around America often have nicknamed; Portland is known as 'Rose City', New York is called 'The Big Apple’, and we believe Rancho Cordova should equally express its unique identity through the nickname 'Dova'.

We urge those in power to consider our request and see the nickname 'Dova' as a sign of the strong, vibrant, and unified community we have become. By adopting 'Dova' officially, Rancho Cordova would be acknowledging the youth, and demonstrating an acceptance, appreciation, and substantial engagement with our collective, growing, and evolving culture.
