Encourage Amazon to Retain Remote Work Options for Employees

Encourage Amazon to Retain Remote Work Options for Employees
The Issue
As an Amazon customer and advocate for healthy and flexible workplaces, it matters, deeply, to see the company embrace progress and innovation. Recent news of Amazon's decision to eliminate remote work is more than a concern - it's a regressive decision that undermines the company's own history of innovative thinking.
Remote work does not interfere with Amazon's profitability or operational efficiency. Consider this: a recent Stanford University study revealed that remote workers are more productive and show lower rates of attrition (Stanford Graduate School of Business, 2015). This suggests that rather than detracting from Amazon's success, remote work could be a fundamental strategy to achieve it.
The elimination of remote work options at Amazon isn't just at odds with progress — it constrains our evolution as a society. It harks back to a way of life with little time for family nurturing, religious/belief practice, volunteering, self-care, and socializing. Moreover, it interferes with efforts many are making to improve their health, and does not take into account that a highly collaborative environment is not the most productive setting for everyone.
Amazon customers, employees, and supporters count on the company to lead and innovate, not regress. I urge Amazon to revisit its decision and retain remote work as an option for its employees.
Please stand with me in asking Amazon to recognize the value of remote work and to keep this option open for its thousands of hardworking, dedicated employees. Sign this petition today.
