Enact the Child Protection and Emergency Response Accountability Act to Safeguard Our Chil
The Issue
WHO IS IMPACTED?
The tragic death of 11-year-old Adrianna Younge has shaken an entire nation. She was a bright, innocent child whose life was cut short, not just by suspicious circumstances, but by the failure of basic emergency procedures. Children across Guyana, and their families are left vulnerable in environments where proper safety protocols and timely police responses are absent. When law enforcement fails to act urgently, when building owners aren’t held accountable, and when evidence is tampered with, it’s our children who pay the price.
WHAT IS AT STAKE?
If we do not act now, more children will be put at risk, more families will be left without answers, and public trust in our justice system will continue to erode. On the other hand, if Parliament enacts the Child Protection and Emergency Response Accountability Act, we can ensure that trained personnel respond quickly, surveillance and evidence are secured, and investigations are conducted with transparency and urgency. This legislation would enforce clear penalties for negligence, obstruction, and corruption and could mean the difference between life and death in future cases.
WHY IS NOW THE TIME TO ACT?
We cannot bring Adrianna back, but we can ensure her death was not in vain. Now while this tragedy is fresh in the hearts and minds of the public is the time for Parliament to take real, meaningful action. We urge lawmakers to pass this bill immediately, not as a political gesture, but as a moral imperative. Let us honour Adrianna’s life by protecting others. Sign this petition to demand justice, accountability, and the protection our children deserve.
