The issue

School should be a safe space for every child, free from fear and harm. Yet, breaches in toileting areas have been continuously putting students at risk, turning what should be private and secure spaces into zones of abuse and trauma. With multiple incidents being reported, the need for a systematic solution is more pressing than ever.

To address this issue, I propose the introduction of a law mandating all schools to employ designated toilet officers. These trained professionals would monitor and supervise the use of school toilets, ensuring they are not misused and that children are protected in these vulnerable moments. The role of a toilet officer would be to maintain safety, provide immediate intervention when necessary, and work with the school staff to uphold strict safeguarding procedures.

Implementing such positions in schools across the nation would not only deter potential abusers but also provide parents peace of mind knowing that their children are being watched over. This measure is a proactive step toward ending school-related incidents and reinforcing a culture of protection within educational institutions.

Statistics from recent surveys highlight the unsettling truth: incidents of school-related abuse are on the rise, yet many go unreported, leaving victims alone. We cannot afford to wait until another child becomes a victim when we have the power to implement preventative measures right now.

It's time for action. By signing this petition, you are supporting a vital change to protect not only our children but all students who deserve the right to a safe and nurturing educational environment. Let us come together to prevent future abuse and ensure that all schools have the necessary safeguards in place to protect the innocent. Please sign this petition and join us in demanding the change our children so desperately need.
