In Bangladesh, millions of people are being cut off from the world as the government imposes frequent and prolonged internet shutdowns. These shutdowns severely disrupt communication, education, business operations, and access to vital information. Most recently, internet and mobile communications have been completely shut down, silencing dissent and isolating the nation from global support.

Students, activists, and ordinary citizens advocating for governmental and educational reforms, such as the recent quota reform protests, are facing not only physical violence but also the crippling of their primary means of organization and expression. This is a gross violation of fundamental human rights, including the right to freedom of speech and access to information.

We urgently call upon Elon Musk and the team at Starlink to provide satellite internet services in Bangladesh.

Who is Impacted?
The ongoing internet shutdowns in Bangladesh have left millions without access to essential services and information. Students cannot continue their education, businesses are unable to operate effectively, and families cannot communicate with loved ones. Activists and protesters, particularly those advocating for quota reform in government job sectors, are unable to organize and express their democratic rights, making them more vulnerable to state violence and repression.
