Standardize corporate notice period to 1 month
The Issue
Why do companies expect you serve 2 month or 3 month notice period when they are not ready to grant you that much time when you are joining?
Companies mention a 1 month notice period on the appointment letter when an employee is recruited but on resignation, they say they've amended the policy and now, a 2 month notice period is a must. Under such circumstances, one loses on the other opportunity as no company waits more than a month to recruit a person at any given level. As of now, every company has their own notice period policy and most of the private companies decide a notice period on their own at their own convenience regardless of what the employee thinks.
There should be a standardized notice period which should be made legally mandatory for all companies to follow. A 2 week/1 month (max) notice period is ideal as it is enough to handover the work, recruit a replacement and shift base to another company.
I appeal to every private sector and corporate employee to sign this petition and help create a law that standardizes a 2 week/1 month notice period and any company deciding notice periods on their own will should be held legally under breach of law. This one is an urge to raise a voice against corporate atrocities and unethical practices.
