Apple — you call yourselves a company that empowers expression. You ship keyboards, fonts, and an entire universe of tiny glyphs people use to mean things that words sometimes cannot. So why, in the era of hyper-specific emoji, is there no official seahorse?

This is not a niche gripe. Seahorses are visually distinct (upright posture, curled tail), culturally meaningful, and uniquely used as symbols of care, queer and trans joy, and biological marvel (male pregnancy, hello). The emoji set already includes dozens of marine animals—fish, octopus, crab, dolphin—yet an animal as iconic as the seahorse has been left off the keyboard. That omission denies millions a tiny but important piece of expressive tooling.

We, the people, call on Apple to:

Publicly support adding an official seahorse emoji to the Unicode proposal process.
Engage with the emoji community and show design leadership by releasing an Apple-optimized seahorse glyph concept.
Help correct this oversight quickly so seahorses can join the rest of the emoji menagerie.
If Apple can add dozens of new fashion, food, and abstract objects, it can add a seahorse. It’s overdue. It’s small. It matters.
