Elmwood Park Memorial Schools- Change in the Dress Code

Elmwood Park Memorial Schools- Change in the Dress Code
The Issue
Good Morning/Afternoon to whom this may regard to,
I understand that the dress code is becoming increasingly severe, but I believe that this institution should be concerned with more vital issues. Such as our safety and restroom issues. I understand that the Board of Education wants a proper dress code, but this school already feels bad, and enforcing the dress code makes it worse. This school, in my perspective, feels like a prison. We have to wear the same E.P. outfits every day or we get in trouble. The school should prioritize pupils who are not dressed appropriately over those who vape or smoke in the restrooms.I'm an honors student, therefore when I request to use the restroom, I anticipate being out for a minute so I can return to class as soon as possible. Going back to how this school feels like a prison, the corridors are so narrow and the lighting is so dreary. As a student, I believe that all Elmwood Park Memorial Schools should allow students to wear sweatpants and a plain shirt, or even a branded sweater. I'm not advocating abolishing the clothing code entirely, but rather improving it. Allow sweatpants and clothing with large logos, for example, unless they contain something objectionable. Aside from that, teachers and students should be able to enter into school certain that they will be able to teach and learn in peace and comfort. As for this, I will start a petition again in the hopes that it will finally alter your thoughts because, at the end of the day, we are the students who have to wear uncomfortable clothes and get distracted due to them for twelve years.
