Elm Court Garden Village - Extend the Notice Period given to HAIRY POPPINS

The Issue

Elm Court Garden Village

Capstone Rd, Gillingham

By only giving HAIRY POPPINS 7 weeks Notice to leave its Site you are causing:

*A small, local independent business to close until it can find a new Site - this takes many weeks just to go through the Licensing requirements with Medway Council let alone the initial hunting for a suitable site

*Job losses - HAIRY POPPINS employs 11 local staff who will lose their job if the business closes

*Local residents with nowhere safe to send their dogs whilst they are at work

*Customers who have already booked & paid for Dog Training & Behaviour Classes in advance with no venue to attend now

*HAIRY POPPINS is home to Medway Pet FoodBank which supports local residents who are unable to feed their pets due to financial hardship and this service will be lost if HAIRY POPPINS closes

*KARAS Rescue use the Site for their fearful, nervous & anxious dogs to rehabilitate & train them, in preparation for rehoming - these dogs will have no safe space to train in without the HAIRY POPPINS Site and the Rescue will not be able to help these dogs anymore, many of who are on Death Row

We request that you please reconsider and that you give HAIRY POPPINS 6 months Notice to leave the Site.

We understand that the Lease has expired and that you can evict them at the end of June however, we are appealing to your better nature.... We are asking that you be kind..... We are asking that you listen to local residents, many of whom often visit the Elm Court Garden Centre..... We are asking you to please, just give them 6 months Notice to be able to plan, relocate and move without any disruption to service..... Without causing job losses...  Without forcing this Business to close its doors....

(The dog in the photo is called Hunter. He is with KARAS Rescue and is looking for a new home. KARAS Rescue were only able to help him because they have use of this safe, private, secure area for HAIRY POPPINS to train & rehabilitate him)
