Baby food aimed At under 6 months to be banned

Baby food aimed At under 6 months to be banned
The Issue
In 2003 the recommended weaning age changed from 4 months to 6 months. This was after extensive research showing it was safer to wait until 6 months to prevent digestive problems in later life. Also that breastmilk or formula is nutritionally adequate until 6 months. The Nhs and world health organisation recommend waiting until 26 weeks. However, when this recommendation came into place the law didn't back it up by banning companies from selling products to those under 6 months. They did however change the law in 1996 when the weaning age changed from 3 to 4 months. So companies continue to make money from
Products aimed at babies as young as four months, going against the recommended age of 6 months. Some babies need weaning before 6 months on medical grounds but this should only be on the advice of a paediatrician And is the minority of babies. Baby food companies are exploiting parents by selling products to the mass market for babies as young as 4 months. It is misleading and isn't in the best interest of their customers. It needs to be clearer to customers that the optimal weaning age is 6 months and before then they should seek medical advice. This isn't to penalise parents in fact it's the complete opposite, it's to make sure parents are more likely to make an informed decision. I'm not intending to penalise parents who weaned early or have made an informed decision to do so. I'm trying to make companies stand up to their responsibilities and stop advertising 'from 4 months' on the front of their packaging. Please support me in doing so and sign this petition.
Thank you.
