The students of EGUSD should not be given any failing grades for the second semester. The students should be given passing grades due to COVID-19 which is affecting everyone. Students shouldn’t be penalized because they are more concerned about their health and safety right now rather than doing school work. Also some students mental health are being affected tremendously by social distancing which is another point in why students shouldn’t be given failing grades. For example a student in LA messaged her districts superintendent with suicidal thoughts that she had due to the coronavirus and now schools in LA are not penalizing students or giving failing grades. Lastly Even though students were given chrome books for distance learning some students may not have access to the internet or WIFI making it difficult for them to get their school work done. For these reasons the EGUSD should not penalize students or give failing grades due to COVID-19.
