Don't allow Elite to sell animals

The Issue

We are asking for the town of Webster and surrounding residences to sign our petition and we are asking The Town of Webster to consider not allowing the pet store Elite Puppies, Inc. of 172 Main Street in Webster, MA to continue to sell animals anymore.  This petition is long overdue and there have been 6 complaints that have been filed against the business according to the Better Business Bureau Site. One complaint filed in 2013 and five complaints in 2014.  Many more have been filed along with the Massachusetts Bureau of Animal Health, part of the Department of Agricultural Resources, has received more than 36 complaints about Elite Puppies selling sick dogs. Even the Town of Webster Health Officer sent an email pleading with the state to do something and sadly nothing has been done.

There was also an incident that was in the local paper back in 2009, when a van was caught with 27 weak, limp, sick puppy’s right outside of Elite’s store.  The gentleman who was driving the van was charged with transporting animals in INHUMANE CONTITIONS and animal cruelty. He had just delivered 10 puppies to Elite in Webster and was still parked outside the store.  The District Attorney commented saying that this case was more serious than dogs just lacking water. All of the animals needed medical attention including one puppy that was non responsive. When Elite’s owner was asked about the dogs she had just received she answered “My puppies are fine, none of my dogs were sick”. Considering ALL the other animals needed medical care that seems highly unlikely.

Just 3 days ago Elite Puppies sold a sick puppy with Pneumonia again. The state requires if any staff member thinks a dog is sick it is to be taken off the sales floor and a vet to be called and that is not what is happening here.  Just DAYS before this puppy was sold, a few people shared Elite Puppies Facebook photo (see photo above) and commented saying how the dog looked sick and should see a vet.  Those people were then blocked from commenting on Elite’s page and this dog was still on the sales floor and in with other puppies making them all at risk of also getting sick. Then days later sold to a family who has now incurred medical bills caring for a sick dog they bought from Elite.

Over the years we have seen sick animals sold from this store.  I am not saying or claiming every dog that is sold by Elite Puppies is sick. However you must take into consideration the ones that have been sick and have DIED hours after being brought home. When an issue does arise the owner and staff have fought tooth and nail over reimbursement of ANY vet bills. In some cases the owner would offer to let the family bring the dog back to her (which none of them wanted to do).  In most cases the animals were not allowed to leave the vet the families had brought them too because they were too sick. In one case when the owner of Elite was informed the puppy that was purchased had to be put to sleep the owner replied “Well you’re not getting your money back”.   In one instance Elite sells a puppy with a cold and tells the customers it very common for them to have colds.  Again to me that classifies as sick, and should be seen by a vet, not sold to a family so they can pay the bills.

Some of the animals sold here have been diagnosed with the deadly Parvovirus, Pneumonia, Kennel Cough, Colds and other such sicknesses.  In some cases the puppies have even died and these heartbroken families are stuck with not only trying to deal with an irate owner and staff at Elite Puppies, but then are also stuck paying all the vet bills acquired from trying to save their new puppies life.  The business has shown no change in how they conducts business and sick dogs keep being sold.

There are many stories and many people who have bought sick puppies from Elite.  This place is still open and still getting away with selling sick dogs.  Something needs to be done and someone needs to be the voice for these animals.  They are just a paycheck to some but these dog and these families deserve justice.  Please help us by doing some research, please read all the complaints on yelp and on Google.  Please don’t allow these sick dogs to be sold in your town anymore.

If you know someone or are someone who has bought a sick animal from Elite Puppies, IT HAS TO BE REPORTED PROPERLY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO GET THEM CLOSED OR UNLICENSED. Any paper work you have from Elite Puppies and any records and comments you can get from the vet's office where you brought your dog. If you need or want help filling your report I and a group of people are here to help. You can email me at reportelitepuppies@gmail.com
