I am a regular consumer, just like millions of others out there. However, as a woman, I have experienced an unfair burden that many are unaware of - the pink tax. This is not an official tax by the government but rather an upcharge on products specifically marketed towards women which are essentially identical to those marketed towards men. It disgusts me to see this gender-based pricing discrimination in so many situations.

According to a study by the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs, products for women cost 7% more than similar products for men. This includes everything from toys and clothing to personal care products and senior/home health care items (New York City Department of Consumer Affairs). Over time, these extra costs add up significantly.

This petition aims to raise awareness about this issue and call upon manufacturers and retailers alike to eliminate this discriminatory practice. We need transparency in pricing policies and equality in how we value goods for different genders.
