The Lexia Learning Program, currently mandated by Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), is proving to be more of a hindrance than a help. Many students, parents, and teachers believe it is wasting valuable learning time that could be better spent on direct instruction or hands-on activities. While online learning programs can offer benefits, they should not replace traditional teaching methods or take away from other educational opportunities.

Lexia was introduced with the intention of enhancing literacy skills among students. However, there's growing concern that it's not meeting this objective effectively. Instead, it often results in students spending excessive amounts of time on screens at school, which may have negative implications for their overall health and well-being.

FCPS prides themselves on providing high-quality education to their students. We believe that removing the requirement for Lexia will allow teachers more flexibility in their curriculum and enable them to focus more on individual student needs.
