I dedicated 25 years of my life to the Armed Forces and another 20 years to the NHS. Throughout these years, I served this country with unwavering commitment and dedication. Now, as a pensioner, I believe that it is time for the government to reciprocate this service by allowing all pensioners the freedom to live without taxation on their first £50k of annual pension income.

The current tax system places an undue burden on those who have spent their lives in service of others. According to data from The Pension Policy Institute (PPI), around 1.6 million individuals in the UK receive a taxable income from private pensions alone. This does not even account for those receiving state or occupational pensions.

By removing taxation from pensions under £50,000 per annum, we can ensure that our retired servicemen and women are able to maintain a decent standard of living without worrying about financial constraints imposed by taxes.

This change would not only benefit individuals like myself but also millions of other hardworking citizens who have contributed significantly towards building this nation during their working lives.
