Eliminating pushback penalties is a concept that would change the dynamics of racing. Pushback penalties, often imposed for aggressive driving or contact that results in another driver being disadvantaged, serve as a deterrent against reckless behavior on the track. However, eliminating pushback penalties could prevent drivers from being wrongly penalized for minor contacts or incidents that aren't their fault. It could make the racing more about skill and less about the risk of unfair penalties.
Other series in North America have successfully eliminated the pushback penalty while still enforcing safe driving with appropriate penalties awarded to those at fault.
