Eliminate Nude Underwear Advertisements from Public Spaces in India

Eliminate Nude Underwear Advertisements from Public Spaces in India
The Issue
This issue is deeply personal to me. Our society—men, youth, and small children—are involuntarily subjected to nude images of women branded as advertising posters. Such exposure unknowingly stirs up lustful desires within them. Our society should actively strive to liberate itself from the bonds of lust, anger, and greed. Unfortunately, certain companies flippantly publicize nude images of women—figures worthy of our respect and reverence—in open marketplaces. These displays, sadly, are contributing to the degradation of our society.
India has been recognized for its culture of ethical and moral values, some of which are strictly against obscenity. A survey reported by the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) in 2015-16, states that about 30% of men in India have used violence against women, and exposure to explicit content has been identified as contributing factor.
Furthermore, the display of such posters outside temple premises adds a distinctly disrespectful tone. Religion and sacred spaces play a huge role in Indian society, with 79.8% Hindus and 14.2% Muslims as per census 2011. Showcasing sexually explicit posters outside such holy places shatters the dignity and ambiance of these spaces.
This disrespectful practice adopted by the Lenity underwear and other company needs to be halted. Private firms must be regulated more strictly, prohibiting the display of obscene materials, especially near temples and sacred spots.
We urge the Indian government, as well as the mainstream media and advertorial agencies, to press stricter restrictions against showcasing adult content in public places. Let's strive to safeguard our society and the minds of our impressionable youth from degradation. It's time to create a conducive and respectful social environment.
