The Issue

I was born on a Sunday and since then, Mondays have become my arch-nemesis. Every time the clock ticks midnight to welcome in a Monday, my heart sinks. It is a shared feeling among many others as well - a universal sense of dread for the ensuing 24 hours of what is dubbed as the most unpopular day of the week.

The American Stress Society reports that 76% of individuals cite Monday as their most stressful day, thus proving this isn't an individual whimper but a collective groan (American Stress Society, 2019). The "Monday Blues" is more than just a catchy phrase, it's a real psychological effect that impacts morale, productivity and overall mental health.

Considering these points, we propose to restructure the week to omit Mondays, creating a new norm for collective wellbeing. We do not aim to cut down on workdays, rather to redistribute work time over other days and make weekly off-days longer. It's time to invest in our wellbeing rather than being held hostage by an outdated, universal schedule.
