Eliminate Hallway Congestion by Moving Students Away from Library during Passing Periods

The Issue

As a student dealing with a bone deformity, the sheer challenge of navigating through jam-packed hallways in-between classes intensifies my physical pain. Additionally, we have other students who are blind or physically disabled who are subjected to this unnecessary struggle too.

Our school's hallway, particularly in front of the library, becomes a hotbed for crowding as students cluster all over during passing periods. Not only does this create an obstacle for students trying to reach their next classes, but also creates an environment enabling unkind behaviour towards those who dare request some space to pass.

This issue is not exclusive to our school, studies have shown that overcrowded hallways can adversely affect students' mental and physical wellbeing (APA, "Impact of School Environment on Students"). Furthermore, organizations like the National Association of School Psychologists have discussed the importance of ensuring a conducive and safe school environment. It is our right and the school's responsibility to ensure we can traverse the hallways with ease.

Let's encourage our school's APs to intervene. We urge them to set up a system preventing students from lingering in front of the library during passing periods, leading to less congested hallways and a healthier environment for all students.

Your support will help push this change through and lighten the burden of those struggling under the current conditions. Therefore, we call upon you to sign this petition, aiding in ensuring that all students, irrespective of their physical capabilities, can comfortably move through our school.
