The Issue

In the midst of ongoing financial challenges, the City of Ceres is struggling with a projected multi-million-dollar deficit. As citizens, it is our duty to urge local leaders to prioritize fiscal responsibility and to use taxpayer money effectively. A glaring area for potential savings lies within the benefits provided to part-time city council members.

Currently, part-time members of the Ceres City Council receive taxpayer-funded premium health insurance, which costs the city approximately $100,000 annually. This is a hefty expenditure, especially when essential services and recreational programs that benefit the community are at risk due to budget constraints. Eliminating or modifying these benefits could relieve some of the financial pressure and reallocate funds to more urgent needs.

Elected officials have repeatedly voted against eliminating their expensive benefits, and it's time to demand change.

Let's hold our elected officials accountable and ensure that taxpayer dollars are used to benefit the many, not the few. Please sign this petition to urge the Ceres City Council to eliminate taxpayer-funded premium health insurance for part-time members and redirect these funds to areas that serve the greater good of our city community. Together, we can make a difference for the future of Ceres. Sign and share this petition today!
