I am addressing this issue from a deeply personal perspective as a local business owner in Bury, UK. The stringent parking restrictions denoted by double yellow lines are acting as a deterrent to potential customers, hampering the commerce of our locality. It's affecting businesses like mine severely due to the sub-standard parking availability. Our town's vibrancy and economic vitality are at risk.

The Institution of Highways & Transportation in their guidance note on Parking (2005) suggests that ample parking provision can sustain and improve urban centres. The lack thereof in our town is evidently impacting businesses like mine negatively. We call upon the Bury Council to reconsider its stringent parking restrictions.

By eliminating these double yellow lines and increasing parking provision, we can invigorate local trade and restore the economic health of Bury.
