As a devoted member of the Utah State University community, I am deeply saddened by the discrepancy in our school colors. Our school song embodies the essence of Aggie pride: it sings of the beautiful Aggie blue and fighting white but makes no mention of black. A disturbing trend has been observed over the years, our sports teams have been facing unexplainable misfortunes in games whenever they don the black jerseys, giving rise to superstitions and talk of a 'curse.'

This issue is more than just a matter of bad luck. It's about preserving our identity, the essence of who we are as expressed by the colors that represent us. Symbolism is a part of any institution. For us, our celebration of the Aggie blue and fighting white is more than just colors, they are a representation of our school spirit, tradition, and community.

My request is simple, I propose that we eliminate black from Utah State University's school colors and uniforms. By doing this, we reconnect with the lyrics of our school song and honor the tradition and pride of our community. Plus, perhaps our sports teams will once again bask in the blessings of favorable fortunes! 

Let’s move towards upholding our traditional school colors, the Aggie blue, and fighting white, and shun the color introduced without representation in our school song.
