Telford + Wrekin Council: Save Telford's Late Evening Bus Service!

The Issue

From the 3rd September 2023, due to withdrawal of Telford & Wrekin Council subsidies, Arriva Midlands will be finishing bus services earlier in the evening than currently.

Most services - 1, 2, 3A, 4, 7 - finish roughly 11pm or later. However, from the 3rd September:

1 towards Town Centre: 8.08pm
1 towards Sutton Hill: 8.40pm
2 towards Town Centre: 6.28pm
2 towards Sutton Hill: 7.10pm
3a towards Brookside: 9.15pm
4 towards Leegomery: 7.59pm (from Madeley) 8.51pm (from Town Centre)
4 towards Madeley: 8.24pm (to Madeley) 9.24pm (to Town Centre)
7 towards Wellington: 7.48pm
7 towards Town Centre: 7.30pm.

Telford & Wrekin Council need to understand that, without the funding, Arriva Midlands North are unable to operate the services which many people still rely on. Carers, factory workers, shop assistants - the list continues. We cannot afford extra travel expenses in the form of taxis due to no bus service. If the Council wish for the local economy to grow, they need to understand that people rely on public transport at all different times of day - including late evenings - to get to/from work.

Consequently, we who sign this petition, urge Telford & Wrekin Council to reconsider their withdrawal of funding for Arriva's late evening services, and reinstate it as soon as possible.
